It is the all-rounder for medium to heavy strapping, where 12 mm is just too light and 19 mm is more than you need. The wider band spreads the tension over a larger surface than the 12 mm. Why American winding?

American winding (AW) consists of several slightly overlapping layers on the coil. As a result, the band runs smoothly through automatic strapping machines, without the snagging that can occur with single (manual) winding. For high-volume production, 16 mm AW is a reliable, efficient choice.
