Printed paper barrier tape

Since 2007, we have been the go-to wholesaler for printed barrier tape, and the paper version is the only one in the range that contains no plastic at all. The tape is made entirely of paper, is white, and is printed on one side in up to four colours: your logo, brand colours or message runs continuously along the full length of the roll. The white paper gives you a calm background on which virtually any ink colour reads well.

This version is made specifically for indoor locations. There, paper does exactly what film does – mark off a zone, steer a walking route, reserve a floor area – but without any plastic and with a noticeably warmer appearance.

Why choose paper rather than film?

Customers usually switch to paper tape for one of two reasons: the venue or the client wants no plastic on site, or the cordon needs to look presentable rather than industrial.

Venues where plastic is not welcome

Exhibition halls, museums, shops, office buildings, schools and care institutions increasingly work with internal guidelines that limit single-use plastic. Event venues, too, write into their rental contract or sustainability policy that exhibitors and suppliers avoid plastic. Paper tape is then a drop-in alternative: the same cordon and the same print, simply without film. Nothing about your working method has to change.

Appearance and decorative cordons

Paper looks matt and warmer than glossy film, which makes it suit a shop interior, a product presentation or a grand opening. If you are screening off a new department until the reveal, or guiding visitors along a route across the exhibition floor, paper blends into the surrounding decor instead of standing out as warning material.

Intended for indoor use

We would rather be plain about this: paper barrier tape is suitable for indoor use only. As soon as paper gets wet it loses its strength. A shower, splashing water or prolonged high humidity leaves the tape limp, and it will tear at the first pull. Strong sunlight and wind also ask more of the material than paper can give.

If you need to cordon off an outdoor area, choose the ordinary printed barrier tape in LDPE film: water-resistant and still taut in wind and rain. For half-covered spots – an entrance, a canopy, a marquee or a loading bay – assume film as well. For a dry exhibition hall, shop or indoor space, paper is precisely the right choice.

Your print and the ordering procedure

Because the tape is white, the ink colour is entirely up to you: from a single brand colour to a design in four colours, printed on one side. The print runs continuously along the whole roll, so there are no unprinted gaps. The procedure takes three steps.

1. You supply your logo or text, preferably as a vector file.
2. We send you a print proof at actual width.
3. Once you approve it, your tape goes into production.

The minimum order quantity

The minimum order is 1500 metres: 6 rolls of 250 metres. Because paper tape is printed specifically for you, it cannot be supplied by the single roll. If a one-off job calls for less, choose unprinted barrier tape from stock, which is available per roll.

Frequently asked questions about printed paper barrier tape

Can paper barrier tape be used outdoors?

No, we advise against it. As soon as paper gets wet it loses its strength: the tape goes limp, stretches and tears at the first pull. A single shower or morning dew is enough. For outdoor use, choose the printed barrier tape made of film.

How do I hang paper tape without tearing it?

Do not pull it tight; let it sag slightly. Paper has far less stretch than film and tears precisely when it is under tension. Fix it across a broad area, for example with a strip of tape over the full width of the tape, or loop it around a post. Avoid knots and sharp hooks that load a single point.

How do I dispose of the tape after use?

Paper tape belongs with waste paper, provided local guidelines allow it. Do check with your own waste contractor: the printing ink can mean different rules apply in your area. We make no certification or certified recycling claim for this article.

Is the print on paper as sharp as on film?

Solid areas and lettering come out crisply on the white paper. Paper does absorb slightly more ink than smooth film, so very fine lines and small type can come out a fraction fuller. The print proof at actual width shows you in advance how your design will turn out.

When is paper the better choice than film?

Indoors, always – and especially where the venue wants to avoid plastic or the cordon has to look presentable: trade fairs, shops, museums, offices, schools, care institutions and opening ceremonies. As soon as moisture, wind or weather come into play, film is the better option.
