Printed barrier tape does two jobs at once: it marks off an area and it carries your message. A plain tape only shows where the boundary is, while a printed one immediately tells people who put the barrier there, why the area is closed, or which brand is behind an event. Because the print repeats along the full length of the roll, your message stays readable from any angle.

The tape itself is a strong, tear-resistant PE film – light enough to string up in seconds and tough enough to stay in place for days or weeks. The film is unaffected by moisture, so an outdoor barrier remains legible in the rain. Printed barrier tape is designed for temporary demarcation: put it up, use it, then roll it back or dispose of it.

Where do you use printed barrier tape?

Building sites and roadworks

On a construction site, cordoning off an area is first and foremost a safety measure. With your company name on the tape, clients, neighbours and inspectors can see at a glance who is responsible for the barrier. Add a warning line to the print and the reason for the closure is spelled out as well.

Events and crowd management

At races, village fairs, trade shows and parades, barrier tape keeps the public behind the line and the route clear. A print carrying the organiser's or sponsor's logo turns that necessary barrier into extra exposure along the entire course.

Retail, promotion and presentation

In a shop or showroom, printed tape guides visitors along a route, highlights a promotional corner or closes off a department during refurbishment. For a launch or unveiling it doubles as an opening ribbon: strung up, cut through and photographed with your brand in frame.

Warehouse and internal logistics

Printing techniques and colours

Stamp printing

Stamp printing is the most commonly chosen technique. The design is applied in solid blocks of colour, which suits a logo, a company name, a phone number or a short warning. The simpler the artwork, the better it holds up at a distance.

Sleeve printing

With sleeve printing the print runs on uninterrupted along the whole roll: the ink colour joins up seamlessly, with no visible transition between the repeats of your design. That makes the sleeve particularly suited to dia-positive artwork, where the text or logo is reversed out of a solid block of colour, and to designs in which the tape needs an unbroken colour across its full width.

Single- or double-sided

When the barrier stands in open space, double-sided printing is worth considering: the tape then reads from both directions. You can even specify a different print per side – a warning facing outwards and your logo facing in, for instance.

Choosing colours

White tape is the most widely used base and can be printed in up to 4 colours. We also supply barrier tape in yellow, green, orange, blue, red and black; in practice, those coloured tapes are usually printed in 1 or 2 colours. Need a specific brand colour? Almost any PMS shade is achievable: we take white tape, print it all over in that PMS colour and then add your text or logo on top in, say, black. With a dia-positive design we reverse the principle: on white tape we print the lettering in green, for instance, and fill the remaining white with pink, so the tape reads as green/pink. Whatever the combination, choose colours with plenty of contrast: black on yellow or white on red reads far better at a distance than two similar shades.

Ordering, lead time and shipping

Custom printed barrier tape starts at 6 rolls of 250 metres, with a lead time of roughly 2 weeks after approval of the digital proof. In a hurry? Get in touch – there is often more room in the schedule than the standard lead time suggests.

Frequently asked questions about printed barrier tape

Can I have barrier tape printed with my own logo?

Yes. You can go for text only, a logo only or a combination of both, in 1 up to 4 print colours. Send us your design and state the colours you would like; you will receive a digital proof for approval before we go to print.

Can I have my own brand colour (PMS)?

Yes. If your colour is not among the standard tape colours, we print white tape all over in the PMS colour you need and add your text or logo on top. Almost any PMS shade can be produced this way.

What is the minimum order quantity?

Custom printed tape starts at 6 rolls of 250 metres. If you need less than that, the tapes with standard texts are a good alternative, as those are sold by the roll.

How long does delivery take?

Allow around 2 weeks from the moment the proof is approved. If your event falls sooner, let us know – faster delivery can often be arranged in consultation.

Can the tape be printed on both sides?

It can. Double-sided printing makes sense whenever the tape is visible from two directions, and each side can carry a different design if you wish.

Is printed barrier tape suitable for outdoor use?

Yes. The PE film resists moisture and stays readable in wet weather. Do keep in mind that barrier tape is intended for temporary demarcation rather than as a permanent fence.

What kind of print works best on barrier tape?

Short and high-contrast. A few words or a logo with clear colour separation still reads from five metres away, whereas a long sentence in small type is lost on a tape that moves in the wind.
