View the datasheet for striped moving blankets hereA moving blanket has no coating, no foam layer and no air cushions — and still stops damage that film lets through. That comes down to the way it is woven. Since 2007, we have been the go-to wholesaler for moving blankets, and here we explain what happens inside this grey blanket with red/yellow stripes as soon as a piece of furniture rests on it. This is one blanket of 150 x 200 cm and 1300 grams, roughly 430 grams per m².
The blanket is woven from a mix of fabrics including wool. Those fibres run in all directions rather than in one, and that explains three properties.
1300 grams spread over three square metres gives you a layer with weight. When a table leg meets a cabinet door, the energy is distributed across the whole woven surface instead of being delivered at one point. A thin film lacks that mass and simply passes the blow on to the surface underneath.
The weave is deliberately not smooth. On lacquered and veneered wood the fibres grip just enough to keep the blanket in place while the vehicle brakes and pulls away. That is exactly where smooth packaging fails: it slides off and exposes the corner at the moment it matters.
Because the threads interlock, a tightened strap spreads its force across a wider area instead of cutting along a single line. The blanket compresses, but does not tear. The hem all round stops the weave fraying from the side, even after dozens of trips.
It is not only the felt that is recycled, but also the polyester stitching thread used for the hem. That makes the blanket entirely recycled material and a fit for procurement built around sustainable packaging materials. Washing is possible up to a maximum of 30 °C.

The same weaving technique produces the storage blanket at 1100 grams: lighter, breathable and intended for furniture that stands still for months. At 1300 grams you get this moving blanket, made for the moments when the item is on the move. The padded blanket of 183 x 203 cm works on a different principle — a filling with a spunbond top layer — which gives it the strongest cushioning on corners and edges, but it must not go in the washing machine. For delicate surfaces, combine the blanket with foam foil or with protective films.
Because the load never lands on a single thread. The fibres run every which way, so tension is immediately taken up by the surrounding threads. A deliberate cut or a sharp fitting can still damage the fabric; in that case put an extra layer between the fitting and the blanket.
Yes, wool is part of the fibre mix. You notice it in how the blanket behaves: wool fibres are crimped and hook into one another, which gives the weave resilience and lets the blanket drape around an item rather than standing stiffly upright. It is also the reason you must not wash hotter than 30 °C.
Not in normal use. Do make sure the blanket is dry and clean, though: a wet blanket on light fabric can certainly leave a ring, and fine dust from an earlier job rubs into upholstery. If in doubt, wash a new blanket at 30 °C before using it on pale covering.
Better not. The hemmed edge holds the weave together; a cut edge frays immediately and then loses a little width with every use. If you need a smaller surface, fold the blanket double — which also gives you a double layer of cushioning.
