How do you fasten a cable tie?

You place the strap around the bundle, push the pointed end through the head and pull until the desired tension is reached; the self-locking teeth keep the tie permanently in place. For consistent tension and a safe, flush cut, a cable tie tool is recommended.

Frequently asked questions

Are black cable ties suitable for outdoor use?

Yes, the black version contains a UV-stabilising additive and is therefore resistant to sunlight. Natural/white ties are mainly intended for indoor use.

Can I reuse the cable tie?

No, the self-locking ratchet closure is permanent and therefore for single use. Cutting is needed to remove the strap.

Does the cable tie damage my cables?

Not with normal tightening; the wide strap spreads the pressure. Do not tighten the tie more than necessary to protect the insulation of sensitive cables.
