Transporting individual goods or complete pallets undamaged from A to B, and that as efficiently as possible. (Internal) transport and logistics stands or falls with good preparation. This starts with adequate packaging and sufficient protection, and ends with the right tools and machines for transport. Kortpack is the specialist in the field of packaging, shipping and transport. In this blog you will find all our tips for safe and efficient (internal) transport.

Step 1: packing

Do you transport loose small items, fragile goods or products in bulk? Whatever you transport, a safe transfer starts with suitable packaging that meets the characteristics of your goods and the mode of transport. Packaging in cardboard boxes, supplemented with sufficient protective material as padding, is an obvious choice.

In addition, there are also other packaging options, depending on the situation and the size of the shipments. For example, is there (long-term) exposure to the outside air? Then only cardboard packaging is not ideal and it is better to opt for packaging material or a finish with waterproof plastic. Wrapping film , for example, is a plastic aid that not only bundles and secures your goods, but at the same time protects against moisture and dirt.

When packing and bundling, do not forget to clearly mark the goods and pallets, for example with strong and waterproof PVC labels. This way you know exactly what the contents of each box or pallet are after transport.

Step 2: strapping

This is not the case for small packages and shipments, but when you transport products in large quantities, it is important to properly protect and stabilize the heavy loads. You do this using strapping material .

To prevent impact and fall damage to the load, you can apply plastic corners protectors to the corners and edges. These corner protectors cover the vulnerable areas and at the same time offer protection against the cutting action of strapping . A welcome protection, because strong strapping straps are essential for bundling the pallets or packages together, securing them firmly and thus stabilizing them. For efficient and fast handling, we recommend that you strap the load using professional strapping equipment .

Step 3: transport

When all products are packed, protected and stabilised, the transport can take place. This can be internal transport on the company site itself, or (by highway, rail, sea or air) transport to bridge greater distances to the final destination. For every type of load there is a suitable means of transport to get the products safely from the means of transport to the final destination or the next means of transport.

Safety and efficiency are also central to the transport of the goods. Please note that the means of transport is equipped with sturdy wheels, that it has sufficient load capacity and loading surface and that it can be operated ergonomically. It is also important that the operating personnel are properly trained and authorized.
