Since 2007, we have been the go-to wholesaler for gusseted bags. These transparent LDPE bags have folds in the sides, so the bag expands with its contents and stands upright. That makes them ideal for long, bulky or loose products that tend to slump in a flat bag.

Gusseted LDPE bags for long and bulky products
A gusseted bag, sometimes called a side-gusset or accordion-fold bag, is an open LDPE bag with a fold in each side. As soon as you fill it, those side folds open out and the bag takes on a volume of its own. This lets you pack goods that a plain flat bag would hold too tightly or too unsteadily, without having to choose an oversized bag.
What are gusseted bags used for?
The narrow base combined with generous length makes gusseted bags popular across many industries. Typical uses include:
- long items such as tools, profiles, hoses, cables and rods;
- flowers, plants and other horticultural products that need to be packed upright;
- textiles, printed matter and small parts that you want to store or ship dust-free;
- foodstuffs that you want to pack hygienically: the bags are suitable for direct food contact;
- loose items that you want to bundle in larger quantities in a single bag.
Because the film is transparent, you can see the contents at a glance. That saves time when picking orders and when checking incoming goods.
Choosing the right thickness and size
Film thickness is stated in microns (my). Light products such as textiles or small parts are perfectly well packed in a thinner bag. For heavier or sharper products, choose a thicker grade, which is stiffer and more resistant to tearing and puncturing. When it comes to size, look at three measurements: width, gusset depth and length. Measure your product and choose a bag that is slightly larger, so the product slides in easily and the bag can still be closed neatly.
Standard or punched
Besides the standard version, some sizes are also available punched. Some of the larger sizes are supplied per 500 pieces per box rather than per 1000. You will find this in the article description.

Frequently asked questions about gusseted bags
What is the difference between a gusseted bag and an ordinary plastic bag?
An ordinary plastic bag is flat and offers no extra room. A gusseted bag has side folds that open out when you fill it. The bag therefore gets a volume of its own and stands upright, which is especially handy for long or bulky products.
How do I close a gusseted bag?
The bags are open and not resealable. You close them with tape, a clip or a heat sealer. If you want a bag you can open and close repeatedly, a resealable bag is the better alternative.
Which thickness should I choose for my product?
A thinner bag is enough for light products. Heavier, sharp or angular products call for a thicker bag, because it resists tearing better. Not sure? Choose the slightly thicker option to be on the safe side.
Are gusseted bags suitable for food?
Yes, our gusseted bags are suitable for direct food contact. They let you pack foodstuffs hygienically and keep them clearly visible. If you have questions about a specific application, please feel free to contact us.
Are LDPE bags recyclable?
LDPE is a recyclable plastic. Dispose of used bags with your plastic waste, following the collection rules of your municipality or waste contractor.
