Ergonomic 50 mm tape dispenser with retractable blade

Anyone carrying a dispenser all day, in hand or on a belt, would rather not carry an exposed blade with it. Since 2007, we have been the go-to wholesaler for tape dispensers, and this grey model is built for exactly that way of working: the blade only comes out at the moment you cut, and the supplied clip hangs the dispenser on your trousers or belt. It takes tape up to 50 mm wide on a 76 mm core.

The blade stays out of the way until you cut

On a standard dispenser the serrated blade is permanently exposed. Leave that dispenser among cartons in a crate, or let it swing from your belt, and sooner or later the blade catches a trouser leg, a glove or the outer packaging of a product. Here the blade only extends as you lift the dispenser to sever the strip, and it withdraws behind the housing straight afterwards. That spares cuts to the hand that is not on the grip, and it spares damaged packaging.

Clip for trousers or belt

Fit the supplied clip to the dispenser and hang it on your waistband or belt. Between one carton and the next you then have both hands free — to move a pallet, pick up a scanner or lift a box. For order pickers on the move all shift, that beats putting the dispenser down and hunting for it again.

Low-noise unwinding

The roll pays out with a damped sound rather than the sharp ratcheting many metal dispensers produce. In a shared packing area or a small despatch room that makes a noticeable difference, especially when several people are sealing cartons at once.

A pistol grip keeps the wrist in a neutral position

The grip sits at an angle to the roll, much like the handle of a power drill. Your wrist stays straight instead of bending outwards, and the force comes from the forearm. Over a few hours at the bench, that is the difference between a tired wrist and a painful one.

Aluminium keeps the weight down

The frame is aluminium, the grip and roll holder plastic. Together the dispenser comes in at 0.5 kg — light enough to wear on a belt, while the frame does not flex when you press down firmly. An all-plastic body of the same weight would give way under that pressure.

Suited to standard rolls

The spindle is sized for the 76 mm core found under all common packaging tape. PP tape with solvent, hot melt or acrylic adhesive runs through as cleanly as PVC tape.

How exactly does the retractable blade work?

The blade sits behind the edge of the housing and moves forward the moment you lift the dispenser to cut the strip. Release that movement and it returns into the housing by itself. At rest — on the bench, in a crate or on your belt — nothing sharp protrudes.

Can I safely wear the dispenser on my belt with tape loaded?

Yes, that is what the supplied clip is for. With a full roll fitted the assembly weighs around a kilogram, which a sturdy belt or waistband carries comfortably. Because the blade is retracted, the dispenser cannot damage clothing while you walk. Do check that the clip is fully seated over the band before letting go.

Is the pistol grip suitable for left-handed users as well?

The grip has a symmetrical profile with no recesses for individual fingers, so it is held the same way in either hand. The tape runs centrally over the pressure roller and cutting is done by lifting the dispenser towards you — a movement that works identically left or right. The clip can be worn on either side.

What is the advantage of aluminium over an all-plastic dispenser?

Aluminium gives the structure stiffness at low weight. The frame stays true when you press hard along the seam, yet the dispenser remains at 0.5 kg and so is practical to wear on a belt. Plastic that has to match that stiffness becomes thicker and heavier; kept thin, the body flexes under intensive use and the tape starts to run off centre.
