Not every packing station needs the most expensive dispenser. This is the low-cost entry model: an all-plastic hand dispenser for rolls up to 50 mm wide on a 76 mm core. Since 2007, we have been the go-to wholesaler for tape dispensers, and this one mainly goes to companies equipping a second or third packing station without stretching the budget.

What sets this budget model apart

A low price per workstation

Because the dispenser is made entirely of plastic, it costs noticeably less than the heavier versions. That lets you fit out several packing benches at once, or keep a spare in the cupboard for when one breaks or goes missing. A missing dispenser otherwise brings a whole packing station to a halt.

Light in the hand at 0.5 kg

At 0.5 kg the dispenser puts almost no load on wrist or forearm. That shows most during shorter packing sessions and with staff who are not at the bench all day: on the twentieth carton it still feels as light as it did on the first.

The red and white finish stands out against brown cartons and grey worktops. That is no small thing when several people share a bench: the dispenser is quickly spotted on a crowded table and easy to point out when briefing a new starter.

Operation and tape choice

Pressure roller and serrated blade

The pressure roller lays the strip down along the seam in one pass, and the serrated blade cuts it the moment you lift the dispenser. The handling is the same as on the heavier models, so anyone used to a different dispenser picks it up immediately.

Suitable for a range of tape types

PP tape with solvent, hot melt or acrylic adhesive, PVC tape and self-adhesive paper tape all run through it, as long as the roll is no more than 50 mm wide and sits on a 76 mm core. That makes it a match for virtually the whole packaging tape range, even if you switch tape type from job to job.

Tool-free roll changes

Slide the empty core off the spindle, fit the new roll with the adhesive side facing out and run the tape over the pressure roller to the blade. It takes seconds and needs no explanation, which helps when temporary staff have to change their own roll.

How does it differ from the standard model with a steel frame, and when do you choose which?

This version is all plastic, while the standard model has a steel frame. If there is one station where cartons are sealed non-stop all day, that is where the steel model belongs. For benches used in bursts, for extra tables and for spares, this budget model is the more sensible choice — and the money saved equips more stations.

Is a budget model suitable for daily use?

Yes, as long as the load stays normal. A few dozen cartons a day is no problem for this dispenser. If tape is pressed down hard all day long, or the dispenser regularly ends up on the floor, a steel-framed version will last longer.

Does the dispenser work with paper tape?

Self-adhesive paper tape up to 50 mm wide on a 76 mm core runs through it normally, and the serrated blade cuts paper even more easily than PP film. Gummed paper tape that has to be activated with water is not suitable — that calls for a water-activated tape machine.

Why is it useful to have several dispensers on the floor?

A dispenser sitting at a colleague's bench or buried under a stack of cartons costs a few minutes of searching on every order. With one dispenser per packing station, plus one in reserve, everyone keeps working, including through a busy spell with extra temporary staff.
