On a quiet floor you hear every roll of tape come off. Since 2007, we have been the go-to wholesaler for tape dispensers, and this version is built for exactly those places: the built-in brake holds the roll back, damps the unwinding and at the same time gives you far more control over the tension in the strip. It takes rolls 48 to 50 mm wide on a range of core diameters.

Where the noise comes from

The sharp screech is not made by the dispenser but by the roll itself. The adhesive releases from the film layer underneath in thousands of tiny jerks per second, and the thin PP film acts as a sounding board for that vibration. The faster and harder you pull, the higher and shriller the note.

The brake takes the peak out of it

The brake presses against the roll so that it only turns while you are pulling. The tape then comes off evenly instead of in short snatches, and it is precisely those snatches that produce the shrill peak. Stop pulling and the roll stops with you rather than running on half a turn.

Suited to a quiet workplace

In a shop, a pharmacy, a reception area or an office, unwinding noise stands out immediately, and the same applies to an evening or night shift. Anyone sealing cartons all day notices the difference too: damped unwinding is less tiring than hundreds of sharp rips per shift.

Build and handling

Adjustable brake pressure

The brake is adjustable, so you can match the resistance to the roll in the dispenser. A full, heavy roll needs less braking than a half-used one, while thin, stretchy film needs a little more. Aim for the setting where the roll turns as soon as you pull and stops the moment you let go.

More control over tension

A braked roll lays down tighter and straighter. The strip does not shoot ahead, does not drift off the seam and stretches less, so the tape will not pull back at the corners of the carton afterwards. That saves both re-taping and tape.

For a range of core diameters

The roll holder is not fixed to a single core size. That helps when several tape brands are in use side by side, or when a roll from another supplier occasionally has to be run off — you do not need a second dispenser for it. The body is plastic in blue/grey and weighs 0.75 kg.

Which core diameters fit this dispenser?

The holder is designed for different core sizes rather than one fixed diameter, so rolls from various manufacturers will fit. If you are unsure, measure the inside of the core on your current roll and you will know the new one seats properly.

What exactly does the brake do, and can you adjust it?

The brake puts resistance on the roll so that it only turns while you pull and does not run on when you stop. That damps the unwinding noise and keeps the strip under tension. The pressure is adjustable: increase it if the tape overruns, reduce it if pulling takes too much effort.

Do I also need special low-noise tape alongside it?

No — the brake works with ordinary PP and PVC tape. If you want to bring the noise level down further, you can pair the dispenser with tape that uses a low-noise adhesive; a braked roll combined with a softer-releasing adhesive gives the quietest result.
