Tape dispenser for 75 mm wide tape
Tape dispenser for 75 mm wide tape
Between the standard 50 mm and the extra-wide 100 mm sits a width that turns out to be the sensible choice on a great many packing benches. Since 2007, we have been the go-to wholesaler for tape dispensers, and this model is built around that middle size: rolls up to 75 mm wide on a 76 mm core, in a steel frame with a hard plastic handle.
Why the 75 mm middle ground
More adhesive contact, still a manageable roll
A 75 mm strip puts half as much adhesive area again on the seam as a 50 mm strip. That counts most on medium-weight cartons, where the closure is under load during stacking and transit. At the same time the roll stays manageable: a 100 mm roll is noticeably heavier and wider, and you feel that in the wrist over a long packing shift.
One pass where 50 mm needs two
On cartons with a slightly wider seam, 50 mm often falls just short and a second strip goes alongside. With 75 mm, a single pass is enough. That halves the handling per carton and looks neater, because overlapping strips no longer sit at an angle to each other.
Wider seams and slight bulge
Cartons filled to the brim rarely close dead straight. A slightly domed top, or a seam standing a few millimetres open, is bridged by 75 mm without effort: there is plenty of board left on either side of the gap for the adhesive to grip.
Build and operation
Steel frame, hard plastic handle
The frame is steel and the handle hard plastic in blue, yellow and grey. With a wider roll that combination earns its keep twice over: the spindle has to stay true across a greater span, otherwise the tape runs off the roll at an angle and pulls to one side. The metal frame keeps the spindle in line, while the plastic handle holds the total weight at 1 kg.
Full-width pressure roller
The pressure roller spans the whole strip width, so the tape is laid down evenly in one pass and no air pockets are left along the edges. The serrated blade cuts the strip the moment you lift the dispenser.
Tool-free roll changes
Slide the empty core off the spindle, fit the new roll with the adhesive side facing out and feed the tape over the pressure roller towards the blade. Because the core measures 76 mm, any common industrial roll fits the spindle.

Where it is used
- Medium-weight shipping cartons: boxes loaded above average, where one wide strip gives more confidence than two narrow ones.
- Full cartons with a wider seam: closures that do not quite meet or that bow slightly.
- Repacking and returns handling: cartons whose seam has already been cut open once and whose new strip needs a wider grip.
- Despatch and warehouse: fixed packing stations closing cartons at pace all day.
It is matched to the wider rolls in our packaging tape range. Both PP and PVC tape run through it smoothly.

Frequently asked questions
When do you choose 75 mm rather than 50 or 100 mm?
Choose 75 mm as soon as 50 mm starts to feel tight: on medium-weight or brim-full cartons, on a seam that stands slightly open, and on consignments that will still be stacked in transit. For light cartons that close neatly, 50 mm is fine. Only on genuinely heavy or large-format boxes — furniture or white-goods cartons, say — does 100 mm come into its own, at the cost of a heavier roll and a bulkier tool.
Does narrower tape fit this dispenser as well?
Yes. The stated 75 mm is the maximum strip width; narrower rolls on the same 76 mm core fit the spindle without trouble, 50 mm among them. Bear in mind that a narrow roll retains some play between the side plates and is therefore guided less tightly than a roll that fills the width.
What does the plastic and metal combination mean for service life?
The steel absorbs the forces that pressing down and tearing off put through the frame — with a wider spindle in particular, that is the difference between a spindle that stays true and one that sags over time. The plastic handle and side parts take weight out and do not corrode. In practice a dispenser built this way lasts considerably longer in daily use than an all-plastic version.
Which tape types are available in 75 mm width?
The 75 mm size is common in PP tape with solvent, hot melt or acrylic adhesive, and in PVC tape. Printed tape and warning tape are regularly stocked in this width too, because the wider strip makes the print easier to read. Paper tape and gummed tape also come in 75 mm, but call for a different type of dispenser.
