Steel strapping with single wrap is the practical choice for those who strap by hand. In this wrap, the strap lies in a single, tight layer on the roll, with each wrap directly connecting to the previous one. This results in a compact, lightweight roll that feels good in the hand and takes up little space during storage and transport. At Kortpack, you will find black lacquered steel strapping SW in three widths — 12 mm, 16 mm, and 19 mm — for bundling, packaging, and securing a variety of goods.

The black lacquered steel is durable and resistant to moisture, wear, and corrosion. This ensures that your load remains securely in place even after longer storage or transport periods.

When do you choose for single winding?

Single winding is intended for manual strapping with a tensioning device and seals. The compact, lightweight roll is easy to carry and move, making it ideal for workplaces without a fixed strapping machine, for occasional use, and for strapping on location. Do you work mechanically and at volume? Then you choose steel strapping with American winding.

What size steel strapping do you need?

The correct width depends on the weight and shape of your load. Rule of thumb: the heavier and sharper the load, the wider the band. This overview helps you choose:

Width | Tensile strength | Thickness | Ideal for:

12 mm | 550 kg | 0.5 mm | Lighter to medium-heavy bundles: planks, pipes, packages, pallets
16 mm | 700 kg | 0.5 mm | Heavier work: machinery, building materials, full pallets
19 mm | 800 kg | 0.5 mm | The heaviest loads: metal constructions, castings, sharp loads

Each size is available from stock:

- Steel band 12 mm SW — the versatile basic size
- Steel band 16 mm SW — the strong mid-range
- Steel band 19 mm SW — the widest size

Single winding or American winding?

The difference lies in the construction of the roll, which determines what it is suitable for:

- Single winding (SW) — one tight, compact layer, intended for manual strapping with a tensioning device. This is the category you are currently in.
- American winding (AW) — multiple overlapping layers form a thicker roll designed for automatic strapping machines.

Are you in doubt? If you work by hand, you are in the right place. If you work with a machine, check out the AW variant.

What is steel strapping used for?

Steel band is a safe and efficient way to bundle and package heavy goods for transport, storage, or shipping. Common applications include strapping wooden planks and pallets, metal pipes and profiles, building materials, and heavy machinery. The high tensile strength of steel also securely holds irregular or sharp loads together.

How do you manually strap with steel strapping?

For manual strapping, you need a tensioning device, a sealing device, and matching seals in addition to the steel strapping roll. You tension the band around the load, place a seal, and close it with the sealing device. Also, seal-less steel band devices are possible. Check out our corresponding tensioning devices, sealing devices, and seals.

Why order steel band from Kortpack?

At Kortpack, you buy steel band directly with expert advice. All sizes are available from stock, you receive personal advice on the right band and matching tools and seals, and you can come to us for both individual rolls and larger volumes. Are you in doubt about the choice? Our team will help you out.
