Tubular netting is the simplest way to move slim, vulnerable products through the chain without a mark on them: slide the sleeve over the product, cut, done. It keeps contact points apart, gives way in every direction and lets the surface breathe — with no tape on the product, no adhesive residue and no extra equipment on the packing floor.
Tubular netting is designed for goods that move against each other or against the wall of the packaging in transit: metal pipes and bars, aluminium profiles, taps and sanitary fittings, light fittings, furniture legs, machine parts, and painted or chrome-plated components. The netting acts as an interlayer that keeps contact points apart — exactly where scratches occur.
Because the netting is elastic, it holds loose parts together without any tape touching the product itself. No adhesive residue is left on painted or polished surfaces, and no knife is needed when unpacking.
The colours are more than decoration. Many customers assign a fixed colour per diameter, product line or order flow, so the packing department can see at a glance which item has already been protected or checked.
The netting lets air through. Components moving from a cold warehouse into their packaging continue to dry out instead of trapping moisture, and labels and type plates remain readable through the mesh.
Every tubular netting has a stretch range expressed as the diameter of the product, for example 15 - 25 mm. The lower figure is the diameter at which the netting already fits snugly; the upper figure is the diameter at which it is comfortably stretched. Measure your product at its thickest point and choose the version that covers that measurement. For angular or irregular shapes, measure the largest diagonal.
| Stretch range (diameter) | Quality | Length per roll | Colour |
|---|---|---|---|
| 15 - 25 mm | 20 grams per metre | 200 metres | Blue |
| 25 - 50 mm | 20 grams per metre | 200 metres | Violet |
| 50 - 100 mm | 44 grams per metre | 50 metres | Red |
| 100 - 200 mm | 99 grams per metre | 100 metres | Orange |
Every version is made of polyethylene (PE) and is supplied as 1 roll in a dispenser box. The larger the diameter, the heavier the quality: a greater circumference simply means the netting has more surface to span.
Polyethylene is supple, light and unaffected by oils and greases, which makes the netting suitable for parts that still carry a protective coating. It cuts to size with ordinary scissors and leaves no adhesive or ink residue behind. As long as a piece stays intact you can reuse it — in a returns flow or for internal transport between departments, for instance — and add it to your PE recycling afterwards.
The roll stays inside the box. You pull the netting out through the opening, slide it over the product and cut. No unwinding stand or extra bench space is required, the remainder of the roll stays clean and dust-free, and on a packing table the box is always within easy reach.
For wide, flat or angular goods, another product group is often the better fit. In that case, take a look at our foam foil, the corner profiles for vulnerable edges and the Nomapack foam profiles. To protect the product inside the box, use bubble wrap, and for the remaining void we offer a complete range of filling materials.

Tubular netting is a sleeve of extruded polyethylene with an open mesh structure. It is elastic both across and along its length, so it closes around almost any shape within the stated stretch range. You will also see it called sleeve netting, net sleeve or protective netting.
If your diameter falls exactly on the boundary between two versions, take the smaller size for a tight fit and the larger one if you want the netting to slide over the product quickly or if parts protrude. If you are unsure, we are happy to advise.
No. The netting has a soft structure and contains no hard or sharp elements. For high-gloss and mirror finishes we recommend combining it with a thin layer of foam foil, so that even the imprint of the mesh is ruled out.
Because the roll then brings its own dispenser. The box protects the netting from dust and damage, takes up little space on the packing table and is ready to use straight away: open, pull, cut.
Yes. An undamaged piece can be used several times. Once the netting is worn out it belongs with your PE waste and can go into plastics recycling.
It can. Because the mesh gives way in every direction, it also closes around flanges, couplings and asymmetric components. In that case, measure the largest diagonal and choose the version that covers it.
