The 10 cm roll width is deliberate. It lets you work one-handed – pull half a turn tight around a leg or a profile, tear the paper off by hand and move on. No knife, no dispenser, and in many cases no tape either.

Chair and table legs, armrests and mouldings are exactly the points that pick up damage during loading. A few turns of crepe paper absorb knocks and abrasion without any adhesive touching the furniture itself. Large surfaces such as table tops, cabinets and sofas are better covered with moving blankets.
With long, slender goods, crepe paper stops the individual parts rubbing against each other inside the bundle, and it doubles as an indicator layer: damage shows up on the paper rather than on the product. Where edges take real load, add corrugated board underneath.
On site, crepe paper shields radiators, pipework, hinges and door handles from paint spatter and dust, and it peels away afterwards without leaving residue on the substrate.

It comes down to friction. If the job is to wrap something tightly and keep it in place, crepe paper is the obvious choice. If you are covering large surfaces or filling voids in a carton, a wide roll of kraft paper gets you there faster. Lacquered or polished surfaces deserve a soft interleaf of tissue paper, and to lock a finished bundle or pallet in place you reach for hand wrapping film. In practice these materials work together: paper against scratches, film against movement.

The creping process leaves the surface in fine ridges rather than flat. Those ridges increase friction between the paper layers themselves and between paper and product, so a wrapped layer holds its position. Smooth paper has no such grip and works loose as soon as the load shifts.
The paper is untreated and adhesive-free, so it leaves no residue. Wrap the paper around the item and apply any tape to the paper only, never directly to the finish. On high-gloss or recently lacquered surfaces, add a layer of tissue paper underneath.
Yes. Creped paper tears cleanly across the running direction, so you take exactly the length each leg or profile needs. Skipping the knife or dispenser makes a measurable difference on larger packing runs.
It is pure kraft paper with no coating or plastic layer, so it goes straight into the paper stream. For companies reducing plastic in their packaging, replacing a film wrap with a single-material paper wrap is one of the simplest substitutions available.
As a rule of thumb, two to three turns are enough for transport protection on a furniture leg. Sharp edges, metal profiles or long-term storage call for four to five turns, or a rigid edge protector underneath the paper.
