In many warehouses the same pile of blankets has been there for years — and it is almost always too small. The result: half the stored cabinets and sofas sit uncovered because the blankets have simply run out. Since 2007, we have been the go-to wholesaler for storage blankets and moving blankets and we see that pattern every day. This pack of 25 grey storage blankets of 150 x 200 cm is therefore meant as a stock item, not a one-off project purchase: enough to cover a full racking bay or showroom in one round and still keep a reserve.

What dust and light do over time

Dust looks harmless, but part of it consists of hard mineral particles. Wipe an uncovered table top with a cloth after weeks in storage and those particles are dragged along, creating the fine scratches you only notice in raking light. Daylight does something different: it discolours wood, textile and plastic unevenly, leaving the shadow of the packaging or the rack visible in the surface. A 1100 gram storage blanket — roughly 350 grams per m² — intercepts both. It holds the dust back and dims the light without you having to wrap the item.

Breathable weave instead of sealed plastic

The blanket is woven from a mix of fabrics including wool and hemmed all round. That weave lets water vapour through. For long-term storage this is decisive: in an unconditioned warehouse a furniture surface cools down overnight, after which airborne moisture condenses on it. Under a sealed plastic cover that moisture stays put and you get white marks on lacquered wood and mould on upholstery. Under this blanket it simply evaporates. Where you genuinely need a sealed cover — outdoors, or under a leaking roof — choose tarpaulins instead.

Storage blanket, moving blanket or padded blanket?

This storage blanket belongs with furniture that stands still. As soon as the same item is lifted, wheeled and strapped, the load changes: then you need the denser 1300 gram moving blanket, with higher tensile strength and a rough surface that will not slide off lacquered wood. For delicate cabinets with sharp corners the padded blanket of 183 x 203 cm gives the heaviest cushioning. In the warehouse, combine with corner profiles on protruding parts and furniture covers over upholstery.

Frequently asked questions

How many blankets do I need to cover a showroom in one go?

A blanket of 150 x 200 cm covers roughly a two-seater sofa, a dining table or a cabinet front. For an average showroom layout that works out at fifteen to twenty-five blankets. With this pack you can cover the whole floor in a single evening, for instance ahead of refurbishment or a closing period.

Can a storage blanket lie directly on a concrete floor?

Not as a moisture barrier. Concrete draws moisture and passes it to the textile; the underside of the blanket turns damp and that dampness ends up on whatever stands on it. Put corrugated board or a floor protector underneath first and use the blanket itself as the top layer.

How does it differ from a tarpaulin with eyelets?

A tarpaulin is waterproof and therefore right against rain and leaks, but for exactly that reason it is not breathable. For furniture standing indoors for months that works against you. The storage blanket does the opposite: no waterproofing, but permeability. Indoors choose the blanket; outdoors, or where leakage is a risk, the tarpaulin.

How do I keep track of which blankets are clean?

Work with two fixed places: a clean stack on the racking and a collection bin for used blankets. Only fold dry, shaken-out blankets back onto the clean stack. That prevents a damp or dusty blanket from travelling onto the next item and leaving an imprint there.
