Storage blankets 150 x 200 cm for furniture at rest

Since 2007, we have been the go-to wholesaler for moving blankets and storage blankets, and this grey storage blanket of 150 x 200 cm is the workhorse of that range. At 1100 grams per blanket (roughly 350 grams per m²) it is deliberately lighter than a moving blanket: it does not have to absorb impact, but to keep dust, light and surface dirt off furniture standing in the same spot for weeks or months. This pack contains 10 blankets, enough to cover a warehouse, showroom or storage unit in one go.

Why a woven blanket rather than a plastic cover?

The storage blanket is woven from a mix of fabrics including wool and hemmed all round so the weave cannot fray. Because it is genuine textile, the blanket lets water vapour through. That is exactly what long-term storage needs: under a sealed plastic cover the surface of the furniture cools down overnight, moisture condenses on it and has nowhere to go. That is how white marks appear on lacquered wood and mould patches on upholstery. Under this breathable blanket, that same moisture simply dries away.

Made from 100% recycled material

Both the felt — the fibres themselves — and the polyester stitching thread used to finish the blanket are made entirely from recycled material. For purchasing criteria and tenders, that is a hard fact rather than an intention.

Storage blanket or moving blanket?

The difference is weight, and therefore the moment you use the blanket. This 1100 gram storage blanket is made for furniture that stands still. If the item is going into the van, choose the heavier 1300 gram moving blanket: the denser weave absorbs friction and impact and will not tear under a ratchet strap. For delicate furniture with sharp corners there is the padded blanket of 183 x 203 cm. Combine the blankets with furniture covers for upholstery and with floor protectors along the walking route.

Frequently asked questions

Can I wash this storage blanket?

Yes, at a maximum of 30 °C. Do not go hotter: the fibre mix can shrink and the weave hardens. Let the blanket dry completely before folding it, or you end up with a musty smell that transfers to the next piece of furniture.

How do I keep the blanket in place?

With elastic straps around the item, or by securing the blanket with mini stretch film. That film clings to itself rather than to the furniture, so it leaves no adhesive residue. Never stick tape directly onto lacquered or veneered wood.

Can I use this blanket under a ratchet strap?

Better not. The lighter weave has less mass and presses into the furniture under a tightly pulled strap. For transport with straps, the 1300 gram moving blanket is the right choice.

Is the blanket reusable?

Yes. Folded away dry and clean, a storage blanket lasts for many uses. After storage it also works well as a cover in the van or under tools in the trailer.
