Why 1300 grams and not lighter

Second, it creates a rough surface, so the blanket stays put on lacquered wood instead of sliding off while the van is moving. It is woven from a mix of fabrics including wool and hemmed all round so the edge cannot fray.

This 1300 gram blanket is made for the journey: lifting, strapping, stacking in the load space. If the furniture stays put in a warehouse or showroom, the lighter 1100 gram storage blanket is enough. For delicate, high-value furniture with sharp corners, the padded blanket of 183 x 203 cm gives the heaviest cushioning. Combine the blankets with furniture covers for upholstery, floor protectors along the carrying route and strapping materials to secure the load.

How many moving blankets does a crew need per van?

For an average household move, removal crews reckon on eight to twelve blankets per van: cabinet doors, table tops, a sofa set and the exposed corners. This pack of 20 therefore fits out two vans, or leaves you a reserve stack for the day when there is more furniture on site than the survey suggested.

Do the blue and yellow stripes stay visible after washing?

Yes. The stripes are coloured yarn woven into the cloth, not a print or coating that can rub away. Do keep to a maximum of 30 °C: washing hotter makes the fibre mix shrink and hardens the weave.

How do I store twenty blankets compactly in the depot?

Fold them dry and flat and stack them on a pallet or shelf, not loose on a concrete floor. Concrete draws moisture, and a blanket that goes damp at the bottom of the pile passes that smell on to the next item of furniture. Twenty folded blankets sit comfortably on half a euro pallet.

Do these blankets shed fibres onto dark furniture?

During the first few jobs a new blanket may release some loose fibres, as any woven textile does. Beat it out before first use or wash it once at 30 °C. On high-gloss black or dark lacquered furniture that is worth the effort, because loose fibres show up most there.
