Relocation package: the starter kit with six items

At the start of a move things rarely go wrong on the big items; they go wrong on the small ones that are missing: no pen to hand, no way to tell boxes apart and no trolley to shift a stack. Since 2007, we have been the go-to wholesaler for moving blankets and storage blankets, and we put this package together so one order gets you started. You receive one set of six items.

What is in the relocation package?

How the components work together

Together the items cover the three actions a move consists of: marking, protecting and moving. You write the destination room on a label with the marker, stick it on the box, and at the unloading end nobody has to guess. The two storage blankets go over the pieces that do not fit in a box: a cabinet, a table top, an appliance. And the furniture dolly takes the weight the moment something has to travel across a flat floor, instead of being dragged or carried in stages. At 250 labels per roll there is plenty for a whole home or an office department.

The blankets in this package

They are storage blankets of 150 x 200 cm: woven from a mix of fabrics including wool, hemmed all round so the edges cannot fray, and breathable. That breathability counts as soon as things stand somewhere for more than a day: under a sealed plastic cover, moisture settles on the cold surface, leaving white marks on lacquered wood and mould on upholstery. Under this blanket the same moisture dries away. Both the fibres and the polyester stitching thread are 100% recycled, and the blankets are washable at a maximum of 30 °C.

What do you add to the package?

This package is a starting point, not a full inventory. For the contents themselves you order moving boxes, and for the remaining furniture you add more blankets. If the furniture is going to stand for longer in a warehouse or storage unit, stay with storage blankets. If it goes into the van and is secured with ratchet straps, choose the heavier 1300 gram moving blanket: that weave is denser and does not tear under tension. For delicate pieces with sharp corners there is the padded blanket of 183 x 203 cm. More wheeled equipment is listed under internal transportation, and small fixing materials under accessories.

What kind of move is this package meant for?

A compact move, or one you carry out yourself: a flat, an office department, a consulting room. It gives you the basics to label, cover and roll. For a full house or a moving company running several crews, order blankets and wheeled equipment separately in the quantities you need.

What do I use the 60 x 35 cm furniture dolly for?

For anything heavy that has to cross a flat floor: a stack of filled boxes, a filing cabinet, an appliance. You put the load on it and roll instead of lift, which pays off most in a long corridor or a car park. It is not intended for stairs.

How many boxes can I mark with a roll of 250 moving labels?

At one label per box, 250 will comfortably see you through an entire home. If you use two per box — one on the side and one on the lid, so you can also read a stack from above — you still have plenty left for furniture and loose components.

Why does the package contain storage blankets rather than moving blankets?

Because during a move most blankets are not under a ratchet strap; they are over things waiting in the hallway, the van or the storage unit. That is what the 1100 gram storage blanket is made for. If you genuinely lash furniture down in the load space, add 1300 gram moving blankets, which are built for that.
