Thomas & Betts TY400-50X-100: slim black outdoor tie, 366 x 4.6 mm, in a bag of 100

Not every outdoor job needs a thick, wide tie. For coax cables on a mast, garden lighting or a camera cable along the roof edge, the slim TY400-50X-100 is often exactly right: long enough to go around a post, light enough to work with quickly. Since 2007, we have been the go-to wholesaler for Thomas & Betts cable ties, and this black Ty-Fast is a regular choice for installers who spend a lot of time working outside.

The strap is made of UV and heat stabilised polyamide 6.6, free of halogens and silicone, with a UL 94 V-2 rating. The nylon pawl is moulded into the head, so the strap feeds in smoothly and does not slip back once tightened. Other sizes in the same weather-resistant version are available among our black cable ties.

Light outdoor bundles, neatly secured

With a bundle range of 3 to 102 mm and 222 N tensile strength, this tie suits light to medium cables outdoors. The black colour disappears against dark cables, posts and gutters, keeping the finish tidy.

Frequently asked questions about the TY400-50X-100

Is the slim strap strong enough for outdoor work?

For light to medium bundles, yes: the TY400-50X-100 is rated at 222 N, or approx. 23 kg. If more weight is involved, such as heavy power cables, choose the wider TY400-120X-100 at 540 N.

Will the tail not slip while I feed it in?

No. The Ty-Fast has a finger grip on both sides of the tail plus a SureGrip tab that stops it sliding out of your fingers. That is particularly handy on a ladder or when wearing gloves.

What is the natural counterpart of this tie?

That is the TY400-50-100. It has the same slim Ty-Fast design but is not UV stabilised, so it is intended for indoor use only.
