Routing thin cables neatly outdoors calls for a tie that is small yet able to cope with sun and weather. Since 2007, we have been the go-to wholesaler for Thomas & Betts cable ties, and the TY100-18X-100 is the outdoor version of the compact Ty-Fast. The X in the part number denotes the black, UV-resistant material. At 111 x 2.4 mm it bundles up to 25 mm, and a pack of 1000 covers a sizeable project.

The polyamide 6.6 is heat-stabilised and protected against UV radiation by its black pigment. The nylon pawl is moulded as one with the strap: little force to thread, a firm grip once tightened. The low head is hardly noticeable, which helps on visible runs along façades and masts. The material is halogen- and silicone-free. Because the tie works both indoors and outdoors, you only need to carry one small size in the van. The black finish looks unobtrusive next to dark cables and fixings.

How does it differ from the TY100-18-100?

Both measure 111 x 2.4 mm and have a tensile strength of 80 N. The TY100-18X-100 is black, UV resistant and heat-stabilised, so it can also be used outdoors; the TY100-18-100 is natural and intended for indoor use.

When should I choose an extra UV-resistant tie?

The black TY100-18X-100 is perfectly suitable outdoors. But where a bundle hangs unprotected in full sun for years, on a flat roof for example, an extra UV-resistant version gives you more margin.

Will the TY100-18X-100 fit around a 25 mm bundle?

Yes, 25 mm is its maximum bundle diameter. For bundles close to that size, a longer tie leaves you a little more tail to pull on.
