Thomas & Betts Ty-Fast® cable ties: the all-round plastic tie

Since 2007, we have been the go-to wholesaler for Thomas & Betts cable ties. Alongside the metal-barb Ty-Rap, Thomas & Betts offers Ty-Fast®: a cable tie made entirely of polyamide 6.6. The pawl in the head is moulded in one piece with the tie, combining low insertion force with high locking strength.

The low-profile head is less likely to snag during installation, and the angled, turned-up tail is easy to grip even with gloves on. Ty-Fast® is halogen and silicone free and is used in construction, marine, transport and industry.

How to read the Ty-Fast® part number

The part number tells you a lot about the tie. The second figure is the tensile strength in pounds (lbs), so a TY175-50 has a tensile strength of 50 lbs, or 222 N. An X in the code stands for the black UV-resistant version; the last part usually refers to the pack size.

What is the difference between Ty-Fast® and Ty-Rap?

A Ty-Rap locks with a stainless steel barb, a Ty-Fast® with a plastic pawl moulded into the head. That makes Ty-Fast® an all-plastic, cost-effective choice for general use.

Can Ty-Fast® be used outdoors?

The black version is UV and heat stabilised and therefore suitable for outdoor use. The natural version is intended for indoor use.

Is Ty-Fast® suitable for marine use?

Ty-Fast® meets classifications from DNV-GL, Lloyd's Register and Bureau Veritas, among others, and is widely used in shipbuilding.
