View here the datasheet for the Thomas & Betts Ty-Met cable ties. When plastic gives up because of heat, fire or aggressive atmospheres, metal is the answer. Since 2007, we have been the go-to wholesaler for Thomas & Betts cable ties, supplying the YLS-4.6-200A to customers in process industry, shipbuilding and food production. At 200 mm long with a 4.6 mm strap, it is the shortest YLS size we offer – ideal for small bundles up to 50 mm, sensor leads and short pipe runs on machinery.
Both strap and head are made entirely of uncoated AISI 304 stainless steel. Locking is done by a ball: as you pull the strap through the head, a small ball wedges it in place and stops it from creeping back. With no plastic in the design, the tie does not burn and is halogen-free. You will find more metal fastening options among our stainless steel cable ties.

Nylon cable ties lose strength quickly above roughly 100 °C. This stainless steel version keeps working up to +300 °C and is not degraded by sunlight, salt or cleaning agents.
Need a longer strap, or a tie that mainly has to cope with heat without being metal? Take a look at our heat-resistant cable ties. To tension stainless ties firmly and cut them off flush, we recommend one of our cable tie tools.
The letter after the length indicates the material. A stands for AISI 304 stainless steel. Versions with a B are made of AISI 316, and a C indicates a coating.
AISI 304 suits most indoor and outdoor applications, including high temperatures. If you work in a salty or chemically aggressive environment, such as offshore or right on the coast, a 316 version is the better choice.
No, the ball-lock is designed as a permanent fixing. To remove the tie, simply cut it. For installation we recommend a suitable tensioning tool so the strap is tight and cut off without sharp edges.
