Long and slim: natural Thomas & Betts TY528MR cable tie, 361 x 4.8 mm, 100 pieces

Not every large bundle is a heavy one. With data cables, signal cables and installation wire, it is often about plenty of volume and very little weight. Since 2007, we have been the go-to wholesaler for Thomas & Betts cable ties, and for this kind of indoor work we are happy to recommend the TY528MR. At 361 mm long it wraps bundles from 3 to 102 mm, while the slim 4.8 mm strap runs smoothly through the head. Each bag holds 100 pieces, handy for installers who create lots of bundles on a single project.

The tie is made of uncoloured polyamide 6.6, halogen- and silicone-free, with a tensile strength of 222 N (approx. 23 kg). A grade 316 stainless steel barb holds the strap at any position, even when the bundle is later added to or rerouted. The natural material is not UV resistant, so use it indoors. You will find this locking system across our metal tooth cable ties.

For bulky but light indoor bundles

Because length determines the bundle diameter and width determines tensile strength, this combination is ideal for large but light bundles. The narrow strap is lightweight and easy to feed through, even in crowded cable trays.

Frequently asked questions about the TY528MR

Why choose a long, slim tie rather than a wide one?

Bundle diameter depends on length, not width. At 361 mm, the TY528MR covers almost the same bundle size as the wider 340 mm TY527MR, but with 222 N instead of 534 N. For light bundles you do not need that extra strength, and the slim strap is more pleasant to work with.

Can I use the TY528MR outdoors?

We advise against it. Natural polyamide is not UV-stabilised and becomes brittle in sunlight over time. For outdoor use, the black TY528MXR in the same size is the right choice.

Is this tie also available in a colour?

Yes, the TY28M-2 is a red version from the same TY28M series, supplied in quantities of 1000. It is useful if you want to tell bundles apart by colour. See also our cable ties in various colours.
