Long natural cable tie for heavy indoor bundles: Thomas & Betts TY5253MR, 295 x 4.8 mm

A full cable tray above a suspended ceiling or under a raised floor needs a tie that fits comfortably around the bundle and then stays put. That is what the TY5253MR is made for: 295 mm long, 4.8 mm wide and suitable for bundles from 3 to 78 mm. Since 2007, we have been the go-to wholesaler for Thomas & Betts cable ties, and we supply this natural version to electrical contractors, data centre builders and machine builders, in bags of 100.

The strap is made of uncoloured polyamide 6.6, free of halogens and silicone. The low-profile head holds a 316 stainless steel barb that grips the smooth strap and locks it steplessly. With a tensile strength of 222 N (approx. 23 kg), the tie keeps even heavy bundles of power cables in place. More sizes with this lock are listed under our metal tooth cable ties.

Applications of the TY5253MR

The natural tie is intended for indoor use from -60 °C to +85 °C. As uncoloured polyamide is not UV resistant, choose a black version for outdoor work.

Frequently asked questions about the TY5253MR

Why is this tie 4.8 mm wide?

The width determines tensile strength: a wider strap is stronger. The length determines how thick the bundle can be. At 295 x 4.8 mm you get both a large circumference and 222 N of holding force.

Can I use this tie to fix cables on a roof?

Better not. Natural polyamide does not withstand prolonged sunlight. For roofs and façades, use black cable ties, which are UV-stabilised.
