View here the datasheet for the Thomas & Betts detectable cable ties. Not every detectable application is about maximum tensile strength. Sometimes the material matters most, and that is where the TY525MR-PDT comes in. Since 2007, we have been the go-to wholesaler for Thomas & Betts cable ties, and we recommend this polypropylene version to customers who look at chemical resistance as well as detectability. The tie secures bundles from 3 to 45 mm and is supplied in packs of 100.
The polypropylene contains a compound of metallic particles, so metal detectors and X-ray systems will pick up the tie, while the bright blue colour helps with visual inspection. ABB states that polypropylene has good chemical resistance and that the material is halogen- and silicone-free. The barb in the head is non-magnetic 316 stainless steel and locks at any point. You will find other sizes and materials among our detectable cable ties.

Polypropylene has a lower tensile strength than nylon: this tie reaches 135 N, compared with 222 N for the nylon TY525MR-NDT of the same length. That is ample for cables, hoses and lines on the production floor. According to ABB it can be used between -40 °C and +85 °C, and installed at temperatures down to -40 °C.
If temperatures in your installation exceed +85 °C, take a look at our heat-resistant cable ties. For an all-metal fastening, stainless steel cable ties are an alternative.
Polypropylene is inherently less strong than polyamide 6.6. That is why the TY525MR-PDT reaches 135 N and the TY525MR-NDT 222 N. If strength is your priority, choose the nylon version.
ABB does not specify UV resistance for this type. It is therefore best used indoors, which is what it is designed for: production areas with detection requirements.
According to ABB, polypropylene has good chemical resistance. For specific agents or concentrations, always check the data from your cleaning chemicals supplier.
