Sometimes a standard tie is just too short, for instance around a thick power bundle or a group of cables in a riser. The TY28M-2 solves that with a length of 361 mm, good for bundles up to 102 mm in diameter, and it does so in an eye-catching red. Since 2007, we have been the go-to wholesaler for Thomas & Betts cable ties, supplying this long Ty-Rap in packs of 1000 to installers who want to secure large cable runs in a recognisable way.

Despite the length, the strap stays 4.8 mm wide and feeds smoothly through the head. There, a 316 stainless steel barb grips the polyamide 6.6 strap and holds it at whatever tension you choose. Marking large bundles in red

Because length determines bundle diameter, this tie can close around thicker runs in a single pass. Its 222 N tensile strength is the same as the shorter 4.8 mm ties; for heavier loads, choose a wider strap. The red version is not UV resistant and is meant for indoor use.

What is the difference between the TY28M-2 and the TY25M-2?

Both are red, 4.8 mm wide and share the same tensile strength. At 361 mm the TY28M-2 is almost twice as long and closes around bundles up to 102 mm, compared with 48 mm for the TY25M-2.

Is there a version with a marker pad in this length?

Yes, the TY48M has the same length and carries an identification label on which you can write a code or description.

Can I use this long tie on a small bundle?

You can, as the minimum bundle diameter is 3 mm. You will be left with a long tail, which is best cut flush with a tensioning tool.
