Thomas & Betts TY25M-2: red 186 x 4.8 mm cable tie for clear identification

Since 2007, we have been the go-to wholesaler for Thomas & Betts cable ties, supplying the TY25M-2 to installers who want certain circuits to be recognisable straight away, such as fire alarm or emergency power cabling. At 186 mm long with a 4.8 mm strap it bundles cables up to 48 mm in diameter. Each pack holds 1000 ties, enough for a full installation or several projects.

The tie is made of polyamide 6.6 with a smooth, notch-free strap and a ribbed tail that is easy to grip. Frequently asked questions about the TY25M-2

Can I use the red TY25M-2 outdoors?

Preferably not. Coloured Ty-Raps are not UV-stabilised and can age faster in direct sunlight. For outdoor work, the black TY25MX in the same size is the better choice.

Why does the strap have no notches?

Because the steel barb bites directly into the smooth material, no teeth are needed. A notch-free strap has no weak points where stress can build up.

What is the neatest way to tension the tie?

By hand works fine, but a tensioning tool pulls every tie to the same force and cuts the tail flush, leaving no sharp edges.
