Since 2007, we have been the go-to wholesaler for Thomas & Betts cable ties, and the TY25M-1 is the standard 186 mm x 4.8 mm Ty-Rap in brown. It closes around bundles up to 48 mm in diameter, which covers most looms inside an enclosure, and a box of 1000 keeps a panel shop supplied for a good while.

The strap is halogen-free polyamide 6.6 with no notches, so tension is spread evenly along its length. A 316 stainless steel barb in the head engages the strap at any point: pull the tie to exactly the tension you need and it stays there. Colour coding with the brown TY25M-1

Brown is a familiar colour in electrical work, for example on a phase conductor. Tying bundles with a matching colour shows at a glance which group belongs to which circuit. The coloured version is not UV-stabilised, so it is intended for indoor use.

What does the -1 in TY25M-1 stand for?

At Thomas & Betts (ABB), the digit after the hyphen indicates the colour. 1 means brown, while the M in the type code tells you the tie has a stainless steel locking barb.

How thick can the bundle be?

The TY25M-1 closes around bundles from 3 to 48 mm in diameter. That limit is set by its 186 mm length; for a thicker bundle you need a longer tie.

Is this cable tie halogen-free?

Yes. The polyamide 6.6 contains no halogens and carries a UL94 V-2 flammability rating, which makes the tie well suited to installations in buildings.
