Weather-resistant polyamide 12 cable tie: Thomas & Betts TYC28MX, 361 x 4.8 mm black, 1000 pieces

Standard nylon ties do a fine job, but when sun, rain and chemicals act on them for years, a tougher material pays off. The TYC28MX is a Ty-Rap made of polyamide 12 rather than the usual polyamide 6.6. Since 2007, we have been the go-to wholesaler for Thomas & Betts cable ties, and we see this tie mostly in solar, telecom and marine outdoor projects. The bulk pack of 1000 is geared to larger installations.

Polyamide 12 resists UV radiation and chemicals better and absorbs less moisture than PA 6.6. The head carries a 316 stainless steel barb that bites into the strap and locks it at any position. That places the TYC28MX among our metal tooth cable ties. It is also halogen-free and silicone-free.

TYC28MX applications

At 361 mm long, this tie secures bundles from 3.5 to 102 mm. It is designed for locations where a standard nylon tie could turn brittle after a few seasons: on roofs, on masts and in environments with oil, fuel or cleaning agents.

Frequently asked questions about the TYC28MX

What is the difference between the TYC28MX and the TY528MXR?

Both are black 361 x 4.8 mm cable ties with a metal barb. The TY528MXR is made of polyamide 6.6 and comes in a bag of 100. The TYC28MX is made of polyamide 12, which stands up better to UV and chemicals, and is supplied in packs of 1000.

Can I use this tie near oils and cleaning agents?

Polyamide 12 has better chemical resistance than PA 6.6, which makes it a good choice for chemically demanding environments. If you are unsure about a specific substance, we are happy to advise.

What is the smallest bundle I can secure with it?

According to ABB, from 3.5 mm in diameter. With such small bundles you will have a long tail left over, which is best cut off flush.
