Black Ty-Rap for tough outdoor work: TY527MXR, 340 x 6.9 mm, bag of 50

Since 2007, we have been the go-to wholesaler for Thomas & Betts cable ties, and when customers ask us for a strong all-round tie for outdoor work, the TY527MXR is often our answer. At 340 mm it sits right between the short and the extra-long heavy-duty sizes: long enough for bundles up to 102 mm (from 6 mm), and at 534 N (approx. 54 kg) more than strong enough for heavy cables. The 50 ties come in a Euro-slot bag that hangs neatly on any storage system in a van or workshop.

The black polyamide 6.6 is stabilised against weathering and UV radiation. The unserrated strap is held in the head by a grade 316 stainless steel barb that will not rust and grips at any position. Being halogen-free with a UL94 V-2 rating, it also works well in indoor technical installations. Other lengths and widths in the same colour can be found among our black cable ties.

Frequently asked questions about the TY527MXR

When should I choose the TY527MXR over the TY528MXR?

Both are black, UV resistant and of similar length. The TY528MXR has a narrower 4.8 mm strap rated at 222 N, while the TY527MXR reaches 534 N with its 6.9 mm strap. So choose the TY527MXR when the bundle is heavy or will be under load.

What do the letters in TY527MXR mean?

TY stands for Ty-Rap, M for the stainless steel locking barb and X for the black, weather- and UV-resistant version. The R indicates that the ties are packed in a Euro-slot bag, which for this 6.9 mm strap means 50 pieces.

Why does the strap have no teeth?

The stainless steel barb bites directly into the smooth material. That lets you tension the tie infinitely, without notches where stress can concentrate, so the bundle is held exactly as tight as you want.
