Extra long and heavy duty: the black Thomas & Betts TY5277MX, 617 x 6.9 mm (50 pieces)

Some bundles are so large that even a long cable tie falls short. That is what the TY5277MX is for: at 617 mm long it closes around bundles up to 177 mm in diameter (from 6 mm). Since 2007, we have been the go-to wholesaler for Thomas & Betts cable ties, and we see this size ordered mainly by companies in construction, industry and infrastructure. Each pack contains 50 pieces, enough for a sizeable project without having to stockpile.

Despite its length, the strap is anything but flimsy: the 6.9 mm polyamide 6.6 reaches a tensile strength of 534 N (approx. 54 kg). The black material is stabilised against weathering and UV, and is halogen-free. In the head, a grade 316 stainless steel barb holds the strap at any position you choose, with no fixed notches. When is 617 mm the right choice?

This tie is designed for bundles and objects with a large circumference, such as tying together an entire cable run or fixing a bundle to a thick mast or pipe. As it is suitable for outdoor use, it also fits projects that will be exposed to sun and rain for years.

Frequently asked questions about the TY5277MX

Should I cut off the long tail after tightening?

Yes, that is recommended. Trim the excess directly behind the head so there is no sharp edge or protruding end. A cable tie tool tensions and cuts the tie in a single action.

Can I install the TY5277MX outdoors in winter?

Yes, within the limits specified by ABB. Install the tie at -30 °C or warmer; once in place, the black polyamide is rated for -60 °C to +105 °C.

How does it differ from the TY277MX?

The TY277MX is the same black 617 x 6.9 mm tie, but supplied in quantities of 500. The TY5277MX in a pack of 50 is more convenient if you only need this length for a specific project.
