Thomas & Betts TY526MXR: long black 284 x 3.6 mm cable tie for posts, pipes and fences

Fixing a cable to a post, pipe or fence means you need a tie that reaches comfortably around the profile and withstands sun and weather for years. The TY526MXR is 284 mm long and closes around up to 76 mm, enough for most posts and pipes. Since 2007, we have been the go-to wholesaler for Thomas & Betts cable ties, and we see this size mainly with event crews, scaffolders, landscapers and outdoor lighting installers.

The 3.6 mm strap is made of black polyamide 6.6, stabilised against weather and UV and free of halogens. A 316 stainless steel barb in the low-profile head locks the serration-free strap at any position you want. That lets you pull the tie tight around a round profile without it springing back. Why choose the TY526MXR?

With a tensile strength of 130 N (approx. 13 kg), the tie is meant for fixing cables and light parts, not as a load-bearing device for heavy weights. It can be used from -60 °C to +105 °C and fitted from -30 °C.

Frequently asked questions about the TY526MXR

Will the TY526MXR fit around a scaffold tube?

Yes. A standard scaffold tube is about 48 mm in diameter and this tie closes around profiles up to 76 mm, leaving room for a cable or hose alongside.

What is the difference from the TY26MX?

Both are the same black metal-barb version in this size range. The TY526MXR comes in a bag of 100, the TY26MX in packs of 1000.

Why 3.6 mm wide rather than 4.8 mm?

A narrower strap is lighter, slides smoothly through the head and is sufficient for cables and light fixings. If more force is needed, a 4.8 mm wide tie offers higher tensile strength.
