How do I finish off the protruding tail neatly?

After tightening, cut the excess band flush with the head, ideally using flush cutters for a smooth edge. That leaves no sharp burrs to catch clothing or hands, and gives the installation a clean look.

Do these ties stay reliable in heat, cold and oils?

Yes. Polyamide 6.6 typically works between roughly -40 and +85 °C and tolerates oils, greases and many solvents well. That makes them suitable for a wide range of technical and industrial environments.

Can these long cable ties be reopened?

No, the head locks permanently for a lasting, secure bundle; it can only be released by cutting the band. If you want to adjust bundles from time to time, take a look at reusable cable ties.
