At 600 x 500 x 400 mm you have roughly 120 litres in a single box, which puts you at the top end of what still works as a shipping carton. Since 2007, we have been the go-to wholesaler for corrugated cardboard boxes, and with this format our advice is to check first whether a box is still the right packaging at all. For light bulky goods, consolidated shipments or display material the answer is yes, and then 4 mm C-flute is the quality you need.

Pallet build-up and rate bands

The 600 by 500 mm footprint departs from the euro norm, so a strip of a 1200 by 800 mm pallet stays unused. Plan for that remainder or stack in the same pattern throughout. Because the rate band at this capacity is almost always driven by volume rather than by weighed load, it pays not to choose a size more generous than you need.

When stacking strength matters

If the box has to carry weight from above, the answer is the double wall version in the same size. As long as the load stays light and bulky, single wall is ample, and larger quantities bring the price per box down through the tiers.

Two per layer, with a strip of the pallet left over. Fill that gap or pick a size with a euro norm base if you want to use the pallet in full.

How many people should lift a full box?

With light contents one person manages, though the sheer size makes lifting in pairs easier and safer. With dense goods it stops being a choice.

How do I fill the remaining void?

With paper or bubble film from our range of protective and filling materials. A box that is full keeps its shape far better.
