A long side wall behaves like a span. The taller flute gives that wall bending stiffness, so the box does not droop when you pick it up from one side.

What should I do with a really heavy load?

A narrow box in single wall runs out of reserve under a dense load. A double wall shipping box of similar length holds up better and protects the end faces.

Can one person handle this format?

Yes, the box is narrow enough to tuck under an arm. With long items, watch your posture more than the load, because the leverage makes lifting harder than the figures suggest.
