Single wall box 500 x 400 x 300 mm - a base built to the pallet

Since 2007, we have been the go-to wholesaler for folding boxes in single wall board, and this is the format we recommend as soon as a customer ships on pallets. The size 500 x 400 x 300 mm means a base of 500 by 400 mm, and that fills a euro pallet of 1200 by 800 mm in six positions per layer with no overhang and no gaps between the rows. At 300 mm high you end up with 60 litres per box. The whole series sits under folding boxes.

Where this format is used

The board is a 4 mm single wall C-flute, one fluted layer in the taller and springier variant. Pallet shipments sit six boxes to a layer, tight inside the pallet footprint, medium heavy parts such as packed components, fixings and plastic mouldings travel well, and branch replenishment can be run on one standard size. Ordering the same box every time also simplifies pallet planning in the despatch area. If the load goes well beyond medium heavy, move up to double wall shipping boxes.

Frequently asked questions

How many boxes fit on a euro pallet per layer?

Six. Two rows of three fill the 1200 by 800 mm surface exactly. That means no corners to pack out and a stack that stays square by itself.

I use double wall in this size at the moment. Can I switch?

With medium heavy contents that often works, and you notice it in material use and in volumetric weight. Under high stacking pressure double wall board stays the right choice.

How much cushioning material do I need?

Allow two to four centimetres all round for fragile contents. More important than the amount is that nothing can shift, because movement causes most transit damage.
