The 330 mm width is not a random figure. An A3 sheet is 297 mm wide and a full lever arch file measures about 320 mm, so both go in here without pushing or bending. 500 x 330 x 250 mm also leaves you room to layer in two directions. Since 2007, we have been the go-to wholesaler for single wall corrugated boxes and deliberately stock these in between sizes alongside the standard series, listed under cardboard boxes.
The material is a 4 mm single wall C-flute, one fluted layer between two liners in the thicker grade. That keeps the large base from sagging the moment you load paper, folders or suspension files. Paper is heavier than it looks, so for full stacks of records we move customers over to double wall shipping boxes. For print work, archive files and display material per branch, however, this format is exactly right: A3 lies flat on the base and A4 fits in two rows side by side. The extra 30 mm of width saves the tilting and shoving that a tight size costs you every single time.

They are internal. The external size is a few millimetres larger per side because of the wall thickness, which matters when the box has to fit a shelf, a crate or a roll container.
Yes. A standard file is roughly 320 mm tall and therefore fits within the 330 mm width. Lay it with the spine down and the mechanism stays unloaded.
In a dry room it is. Stand the boxes on a pallet or a board rather than straight onto concrete, because corrugated board draws moisture out of a cold floor.
