A box at the bottom of a stack carries everything above it. That is exactly why this 440 x 300 x 260 mm format is made in a single wall grade of 4 mm, on a base where A3 lies flat. Since 2007, we have been the go-to wholesaler for single wall folding cartons and we use the C-flute across our cardboard boxes wherever stacking and transport really load the box.
The C-flute is taller than the B-flute used in 3 mm board. That puts more air inside the wall, so the board springs back after a load instead of staying dented. In corrugated board the stacking strength comes from the vertical corners, so set the boxes squarely on top of one another. Done that way, a single wall carries more than its thickness suggests.
Pallet building: several layers that keep their shape when wrapped tightly.
Medium-heavy contents: components, fixings and household goods.
Fragile contents: the spring in the wall absorbs knocks during sorting.

With medium-heavy contents this format holds three to four layers well, provided the corners line up and the pallet is wrapped. For heavier loads, work with fewer layers and an intermediate sheet.
A taller flute, so a thicker and springier wall at roughly the same tare weight. You see the difference after transport, in the condition the boxes arrive in.
Usually yes, a few times. Check the corners and the flaps. A crushed corner costs you part of the stacking strength straight away, even when the box otherwise looks fine. A strip of tape along the bottom seam restores some confidence.
