With 200 mm of height on a 400 x 300 mm footprint you get a box that takes two full layers without the top flaps standing proud. On a packing line that difference shows up straight away: less repacking, fewer split consignments. The 400 x 300 x 200 mm format is among the most requested heights in this range, and since 2007 we have been the go-to wholesaler for single wall folding cartons within our wider range of folding boxes.
Stacked items: two layers of roughly 95 mm with a board divider between them.
Household goods: pans, small appliances and bulky kitchen utensils.
Fragile contents: space all round for a layer of film, paper or foam.
The board is 4 mm thick in C-flute. At this height that is no luxury, because the taller the side wall, the sooner a thin wall starts to bulge under the weight of the load. The coarser C-flute keeps the box in shape even when fully loaded and absorbs knocks along the way.

Height alone, 200 against 180 mm. You normally use those 20 mm for cushioning above the contents. Footprint, 4 mm C-flute and the number of packs per pallet are the same for both sizes.
Not necessarily. A standard roll of tape in 48 or 50 mm closes the seam securely. For heavy contents, tape the base in an H pattern so the flaps cannot pull open when you lift the box.
For many web shops it does. With most carriers it still falls into a favourable parcel class and it offers enough room for orders containing several items.
