The board is single wall 4 mm in C quality: one fluted layer between two flat liners, but with a coarser flute than the 3 mm B version. Frequently asked questions

How much filling material do I need in this size?

Allow roughly 30 to 40 mm all round the device. With 250 mm of height that means a bottom layer, a top layer and padding in the four corners, so the contents cannot tip over in transit.

Why 4 mm board rather than 3 mm?

The 4 mm C-flute has a taller flute and therefore absorbs more shock. With hard or valuable contents you notice that difference. For light consignments the 3 mm B-flute is perfectly adequate.

Does the box stay upright while I am packing it?

It does. The 4 mm wall thickness keeps an erected box steady on the bench even before the bottom flaps are taped, which makes it easier to lower a heavier unit in with both hands.
