A true cube packs differently from a long model: the contents sit in the middle with the same amount of room on all six sides. That saves padding material and time at the bench. Since 2007, we have been the go-to wholesaler for cardboard shipping cartons, and we keep 200 x 200 x 200 mm as a fixed cube size, made in 4 mm single wall board with a C-flute. It sits in the same range as our other cardboard boxes.

What the 4 mm C-flute adds

A tall box on a relatively small base mainly takes sideways pressure in transit. The coarser C-flute springs back better than the flatter B-flute, so the side walls do not bulge out. With breakable contents that decides whether a box arrives the way it was sent. Do fill the cube right into the corners, so the walls get counter pressure from the inside and hold their shape.

Why do customers choose a cube?

Because the contents sit evenly on every edge. You need one layer of padding all round instead of a thick wad at the ends, and the box can be set down on any face.

Do carriers charge on volume?

Many of them work with a volumetric weight. With a cube that works in your favour as long as you really fill the box, so do not send small single items in this format.

Is single wall enough or do I need double wall?

For volume at a moderate weight this quality is fine. Once the stack goes higher than a few layers, or the contents weigh several kilos, double wall shipping boxes are the safer option.
