Single wall box 450 x 320 x 170 mm - wide and low for consolidated orders

A wide base with a low wall packs quite differently from a tall box. You lay items side by side instead of stacked, see at a glance whether the order is complete, and need less void fill to keep everything in place. The 450 x 320 x 170 mm format, with its A3 footprint, was made for exactly that. Since 2007, we have been the go-to wholesaler for corrugated folding boxes, and this is a size we mostly see in picking lanes, next to the rest of our cardboard boxes.

The material is a 3 mm single wall board with a B-flute. On a low box that choice is logical: the wall has little height to bridge and the content lies flat on the base, so the forces spread evenly. If you need the same wide footprint but want to pack higher, our range of folding boxes also holds deeper models on the very same base.

Questions and answers

Will the base not sag at this width?

Not with a light to medium load that is spread evenly. Place the heavier items in the middle of the base and fill out the corners. If the content becomes heavy and sits in one spot, a thicker quality is the wiser choice.

Can I divide the box into two compartments?

Yes. A piece of corrugated board cut to size works well as a partition between the goods. For larger volumes we are happy to look into a fixed insert made to your measurements.

How do I stop flat content from sliding about?

Fill the box to just under the rim and lay a strip of board or an air cushion over the top layer. Everything then stays put when the flaps close and the parcel lands on its side.
