At a little over thirty-three litres, the choice of board becomes the real question. Fill 430 x 310 x 250 mm with light goods and a single wall of 3 mm is both the cheapest and the sensible answer. Fill the same volume with metal hardware and the sum changes. Since 2007, we have been the go-to wholesaler for single wall folding cartons, and we are happy to help you find that line. Our folding boxes range holds a suitable size on either side of it.
The rule of thumb is simple. Single wall board carries its load through the vertical edges and handles a moderate load without trouble as long as the box is evenly filled. As soon as the weight gathers in one spot, the box stands several layers high or the contents have sharp edges, double wall shipping boxes come into play. They have two fluted layers and therefore more puncture and stacking resistance.
Parts and tools: spread evenly across the base rather than piled in one corner.
A3 binders and folders: placed upright, with room for a divider sheet.
Several items per consignment: two layers with an interleaf between them.
Storage on the rack: a closed box that keeps its shape.

Move to double wall board as soon as the box bulges, the base sags or you stack more than three layers high. Pointed contents also ask for a thicker wall.
Partly. A base taped in an H pattern stays closed better. The right tape does not increase the load capacity of the board, though, so for genuinely heavy loads a stronger quality is the answer.
Yes, as long as the corners stay in line and no closed box rests loose on a half-filled one. That is where most of the damage happens.
