A width of 304 mm rather than a neat 300 mm looks like a detail, yet with fixed contents it is exactly the difference between easing a product in and forcing it in. The 430 x 304 x 218 mm box grew out of existing product dimensions, and that is where its value lies. Since 2007, we have been the go-to wholesaler for single wall cardboard boxes, and we keep fitted sizes like this in stock alongside the standard formats in our folding boxes range.
Because the contents sit snugly, you need less cushioning and packing goes faster. The wall is a single wall of 3 mm, the usual choice for this combination of surface area and load. A pack of 20 boxes fits thirty times on a pallet, so larger quantities arrive in one delivery. Repeat volumes fall under our tiered pricing, so the price per box drops as the quantity rises.
Office supplies: ring binders and archive folders upright or flat, with no play.
A3 print work: sheets and portfolios in A3 lie flat on the base.
Several items per consignment: two rows of products side by side along the length.
A fixed packing line: one size that takes the same contents every day.

The size follows the contents the box was originally drawn around. Those four millimetres leave room for a label or a thin sheet of padding without letting the contents shift.
In practice it does. Four millimetres of extra width stay within the tolerance of a wrapped pallet. Only a very tight pattern may show a minimal overhang.
Medium-weight contents are fine, as long as the load is spread across the base. For dense, heavy goods in this format, double wall shipping boxes are the better choice.
