Why this height

150 mm is enough for two layers of goods with a divider between them, or for one layer with generous padding all round. Compared with the 120 mm version you gain that second layer while the footprint stays the same, so both heights can stand side by side at the packing bench and come in on the same pallet build. If you want to run a single height only, 150 mm is the safest choice, because flat and slightly taller items both find a place in it.

How does this size differ from the 120 mm version?

Only in height. The footprint, the board and the quality are identical, so you can use both sizes interchangeably and keep one pallet position for the pair.

How do I stack these boxes safely on a pallet?

Place them so the corners sit above one another, because that is where the load-bearing strength of corrugated board is. Never set a full box loosely on a half-filled one, and a cardboard layer pad helps keep the tiers apart.

Is single wall strong enough for tools?

For hand tools and accessories it usually is. With sharp edges, lay an extra sheet of board against the wall, and for genuinely heavy goods choose double wall shipping boxes.
