The base of 305 x 220 x 220 mm is a shade larger than an A4 sheet. Folders, ring binders and catalogues therefore lie flat on the bottom instead of sitting at an angle, and the height takes a decent stack on top of them without the contents being able to tip over. Since 2007, we have been the go-to wholesaler for single wall folding boxes, and this size reappears in almost every packing area, which is why it sits prominently in our range of folding boxes.

The material is single wall corrugated board of 3 mm in B quality, meaning one fluted layer between two flat liners. That is the standard build for light to medium-duty shipments, and with normal contents the box stays taut and square. If your contents become more demanding, or the boxes stand several layers high on a pallet, it is worth looking at double wall shipping boxes.

Does an A4 folder lie flat on the bottom?

It does. At 305 x 220 mm there are a few millimetres of clearance all around an A4 sheet, so folders and binders lie flat rather than standing at a slant inside the box.

What is the quickest way to close this box?

Fold the short flaps first and the long ones after, then run a strip of tape over the seam in one movement. With a filled box it is best to tape the underside in an H pattern.

Why pick 3 mm here rather than 4 mm?

For light to medium-duty goods, 3 mm is more than sufficient. With sharp-edged or demanding parts, the 4 mm flute offers noticeably more spring.
