What to watch with a flat format

A wide base with low side walls draws most of its stiffness from the bottom panel. For light to medium-weight contents 3 mm single wall board is ample, provided you spread the load. Lay heavier parts across the full surface rather than in one corner. If something has to stand on top, or the shipment gets heavy, double wall shipping boxes are the better option.

Does a flat box need extra filling material?

Usually very little. Top up the remaining height with a flat layer of paper or board so the contents cannot shift if the parcel ends up on its side.

What is the best way to stack flat boxes?

Let the weight rest on the corners rather than in the centre of the top flap. With a wide base and low walls the pressure otherwise lands entirely on the bottom panel. An even layer on the pallet carries better than a staggered build.

Does an A4 sheet fit flat in this box?

No, A4 is 297 mm long and that is too long for the internal length of 250 mm. A5 format and smaller folders do lie flat on the base with room to spare, alongside a bundle of paperwork.
