A cross-section of 400 by 400 mm over a length of 800 mm: a profile in which rolls, tubes and rolled-up material simply stay put. Unlike in a lower box, the contents cannot tip over, because there is no room for them to do so. Since 2007, we have been the go-to wholesaler for double wall shipping boxes, supplying this size to businesses in floor coverings, film and technical textiles, among others.

At 128 litres, you are at the upper end of what a parcel carrier still treats as a standard parcel. The volumetric weight comes out at around 26 kg, so this box only pays off if the contents carry some weight too. For light, bulky goods a pallet shipment is usually more economical.

Working with this format

Erecting: the 400 mm bottom flaps meet neatly in the middle; a single strip along the seam is enough for moderate weights.
Carrying: when full, use two people, one at each end.
Standing it upright: no problem – the 400 x 400 mm footprint is large enough for that.

Stacking and storage

Lying flat, this format stacks in two rows side by side within the width of a Euro pallet. The 7 mm double wall board carries the layers above, as long as you stack squarely on top of one another rather than staggered. If you build higher than four layers or the contents get heavy, a pallet box makes a more stable base.

Frequently asked questions

Can I ship rolls in this box?

Yes, the square cross-section lends itself well to that. Stand the roll on its end or lay it down and fill the corners, so it cannot roll around in transit.

What is the difference from the 350 mm high version?

Fifty millimetres of height, which gives you 16 litres of extra capacity. This version has a square cross-section, which suits round contents; the lower version is more efficient for flat contents.

Can the box be transported standing upright?

If you handle the transport yourself, that is fine. With a parcel service you have no control over orientation, so always pack the contents so that every position is safe.
