Cardboard boxes 688 x 338 x 276 mm – an elongated format for long products

This box has virtually the same capacity as a 590 x 390 x 280 mm box – just over 64 litres – but divides that space very differently: long and narrow. With an internal length of 688 mm and a width of 338 mm, it suits products that would otherwise lie diagonally in a standard box or leave lots of empty space. Since 2007, we have been the go-to wholesaler for folding boxes and packaging materials, and we see every day how much void fill and shipping volume a well-fitting box saves.

When to choose an elongated box

Tools and technical parts: spirit levels, measuring rods, car and bicycle parts or profiles in short lengths.
Lighting and interiors: light fittings, lamp bases and decorative pieces that are better protected lying lengthways.
Sport and hobby: equipment and accessories with an elongated shape, packed neatly flat.

The double wall (BC flute, 7 mm) gives the long side walls the stiffness they need to resist bending. For fragile long items, a ‘Fragile’ sticker from our range of warning labels makes a real difference to how a parcel is handled in transit.

Why an elongated box rather than a larger standard box?

A long product in a wide box leaves a lot of empty space. You have to fill it, and it can also push up the volumetric weight charged by carriers. With a box that follows the shape of your product, you pack faster and more compactly.

What are the external dimensions of this box?

The internal size is 688 x 338 x 276 mm. Because of the thickness of the double wall board, the external size comes to approximately 702 x 352 x 290 mm. Keep this in mind when planning shelving or pallets.

Isn't single wall enough for long, light products?

For genuinely light items, single wall shipping boxes can be sufficient. At this length, however, many customers still opt for double wall, because long walls are more likely to bend when stacked and during transport.
