Cardboard boxes 650 x 450 x 400 mm – moving with sturdy board

This is the size most people picture when they hear the words moving box: 650 x 450 x 400 mm, good for around 117 litres. Big enough to empty a cupboard into two or three boxes, yet still manageable as long as you do not fill it with books. The difference from a typical moving box lies in the board: double wall, 7 mm. What double wall board delivers here

A moving box gets carried, dragged, put on a sack truck and then loaded for months. Single wall board lasts one trip; double wall lasts several moves. The 7 mm wall also absorbs knocks in doorways and on staircases, where most damage happens. Seal the base in an H pattern with strong packing tape – with this size, the bottom seam takes the most punishment.

Frequently asked questions

Can I fill this box with books?

The board can take it, your back cannot. 117 litres of books weighs well over 60 kg. Fill books to about a third of the height and put lighter items on top.

Does it have handles?

No. The box is a closed regular slotted container (RSC, FEFCO 0201) without cut-outs, which makes the wall stronger when stacked in storage. Lift from the bottom edge rather than by the flaps.

How high can I stack them in a storage unit?

With evenly filled boxes, three to four layers is usual, with the heaviest at the bottom. Keep the corners directly above one another and keep the stack away from damp walls or floors.
